I will agree with you that a tele-zoom is a good thing to have. I would say that it’s more important than a standard zoom.
For sure. Not using a tele-zoom when buying into a DSLR sort of defeats the purpose of lugging around a DSLR. If you’re shooting at 35 or 50mm, you’re better off with a smaller camera, like a Leica (at least you were better off once upon a time).
