Yearning for the Frozen Touch.

Inspiration, iPhone, Life's Little Moments, Print

This was taken the day leading up to the evening before our power was restored, following the infamous Toronto Ice Storm.

We were outside, chipping away at the ice in front of our house, and the sun had finally made an appearance that day.

It was late afternoon and the light was fantastic.

We had no idea how the night would go for us, as the temperature inside our house was almost as low as outside.

But amidst the struggle and fear, there was beauty to be found.

It’s always the case.

I have to remind myself of that constantly.

—Peter.

Favourite, Film, Inspiration, Portrait, Print, Street

As has become an annual ritual (and learning process) for me, I recently reviewed my images from this past year.

What follows are my favourites — my “31 of ’13“.  They are presented in no particular order, but each one stood out for me.

I also want to take this moment to thank you for your overwhelming support of my endeavours on this site.  Each day, I look forward to reading and responding to your comments, and I look ahead to 2014 with much optimism, and inspiration.

Thank you,

—Peter.

P.S.  The images below are dedicated to my grandmother, Thecle, who looked after me with infinite love when I was a child, and who passed away this year.  Love you forever, my Yiayia.

They were found together on the pavement, on a rainy afternoon.

On a technical note, this particular shade of red reminds me very much of the native output of the M8; it apparently can be coaxed out of the M240 after some post-processing.

And on another note, this image marks the return for me of the Leica 50mm Summilux ASPH.
