I must re-watch. I love that movie – the cinematography as much as story.

Interstellar is the closest thing to that experience that I’ve watched, but being 2014, my only criticism was that it filled in too many spaces with dialogue and exposition. It didn’t allow much time for the brain to work out the puzzles. But still a great story, and beautifully shot.

I think part of the enduring appeal of 2001 is that its left to the viewer to figure out the meaning, much like a picture.

      I haven’t seen Interstelar. Maybe I should.

Regarding 2001, it’s been said that the 60s were all about asking questions, and that subsequent decades have mostly been about providing answers. Perhaps easy answers, spoon-feeding answers.

Sometimes it’s nice to be left wondering.

Besides, the path to knowledge should properly begin with an admission of ignorance. And the voyage towards knowledge should proceed at a leisurely enough pace to allow for quiet contemplation.
