Its a little secret. Actually and if you really tried it hard, you will taste that ME is a much better machine than M9 and M9P, simplier and more reliable. Most old M9 users wont give it a try and jump to M240.
Btw, looking all the way back, your Noct 0.95 photos are most unforgetabble.
Thank you Sam.
By the way, it’s very unlikely I’ll ever be able to own a Noct f/0.95 again…
Peter.
Pity. They are so nice.
Sometimes, i have crazy idea.
I think Leica should develop a body with different ccd/cmos module chosen. Just like film. Isn’t it nice?
why?
Congratulations Peter. From what I’ve heard it’s a great camera. I’m rekindling my love affair with the M9 after a spell with the 240. All I can say is that it’s good to he back in a simple relationship.
Thank you.
Great choice!! I was torn between the Me and the Monochrom. By the end I picked the monochrom for its high ISO, and kept my M8.2 for color and as B&W backup.
I simply love the CCD’s rendering so much… It’s sad seeing leica going down the CMOS path like everyone else did (but sigma). A big key differentiator of leica digital imaging got lost. Really sad.
This has all been stated in my “Open Letter to Leica” (http://photographsbypeter.com/2013/11/16/an-open-letter-to-leica/)… I hope you signed it Carlos 🙂
Everything good from the M9, it’s just the colour I find unusual anyway that won’t make any difference to the images.
Indeed… that original Kodak sensor is still in there.
That anthracite color will grow on you along with a black dot!
Seeing the camera “in the flesh”, I actually like its appearance.
Wow…..you purchased an ME……who would have thought…:-) Congrats Peter.
Well, I did say I wasn’t going back to the M9 😉
congrats Peter, i think you are going to have a blast with this camera. you know i switched to the M240 when you switched for the first time, and i sold it a week later. since then i have returned to the CCD and stuck with it. its what works best for me.looking forward to see new Leica images 🙂 regards Marc
Thank you Marc.
Welcome home.
Thank you Roel. It’s the closest “home” I know in the digital world. But my true photographic “home” will always be film…
Congratulations, Peter!
I like the way you introduced your ME via John Lennon.
I always enjoy your M9 images & have missed that for some time now.
Enjoy ME & let us know how it is versus your M9/M9-P.
Michael.
Thank you Michael. I don’t anticipate any differences really between the M-E and M9/M9P.
I hope you’ve enjoyed my film images too…
The M-E is a great little camera…………. but the colour? IMHO it should be either chrome or black..
Hope it gives you much pleasure though 🙂
Thanks Christian.
I’ll have to count myself in the “the camera looks better ‘in person'” category — it really does.
Peter.
Maybe Leica used the M240 for the product shots, and thats why it looks better in person than on pictures? 😉
I saw a used one at the Leica store in Berlin, and it looked very gray, but much lighter than in any pictures i have seen.
So will the M-E be replacing the Df Peter?
The Df has been long gone.
Your website was aware of the fact that you would buy an M-E one day long before you knew about it. Just look at the title section “ME” on your website, it’s been there for ages… 🙂
🙂
I knew you would get another M9 sooner or later! Nice colour camera. Enjoy.
I may have previously revealed a slight bias towards CCD sensor cameras!
Is the ME more reliable than the M9?..
Congrats on the choice Peter!
I don’t know… it’s been said that it is. I guess I will see over time…
An interesting development Peter – especially given our conversation this week, I had a feeling this was coming! Hope you enjoy the M-E.
Yes, I hinted about it on purpose… 🙂
Peter, So happy to see you back in the land of CCD. If film is always to be your photographic home, perhaps the M-E will get to remain your photographic home away from home. 🙂
No doubt that that will be the case. Thank you Kim.
Enjoy the camera Peter.
Thank you Mike.
