NO! Are you?
Ha ha… ha.
Peter.
This is not what we talked about.
😂
This is why minutes are required after meetings.

Maybe instead of selling all of your Leica gear again, you should first rent the target of your lust from Lensrentals for a week to see if it’s really for you?! 🙂
Lust?… er….. I guess that’s fair.
We don’t have Lensrentals in Canada (I think they were here for a while though) and I’ve already tried the GFX 50R (posted about it too). Didn’t like the EVF, but loved the files.
Peter you had the M9 for a long time and it remained your camera of the year for maybe 5 years (thoughally deserved) you have had the M10 under a year and you are thinking GFX only you know what that means. You may just have to ignore the mewanchuk I think his Noritsu fell on his head a while ago LOL (love his work though)

Ian, the M10 is a great camera. It really is. And it’s a better fit for me vs. the Fuji GFX. But that 50 MP sensor is quite appealing.
As for your trash-talking of Mark, I look forward to Mr. E’s response.
(I do think the Noritsu hit his noggin’)
😂😂😂
yes me 🙂
Primarily as a family memories catcher, having the right camera with you is most important. You have to carry it to use it, but when you’ve got a gem you want it to be the best it can. The M10 is a beautiful camera to own, use and with the lenses available can produce beautiful images, those lenses also allow a shallow depth of field. But here’s where I turn it on its head, when your children (models) where younger they changed from month to month, now they are older they still change but at a slower pace, you have especially over winter taken all the shots you can. Going Medium format, is a different discipline and has a fresh learning curve, interest and will produce different images then you have. So for a change and fresh start in your hobby go for it, Leica, GFX hold value to a degree better then most. There’s is a cost to your main hobby, same with annual golf membership, thank goodness your not into motor sport. But rub 2 is its approaching Summer and will you feel a plum carrying a large (ugly) camera. Actually, I stood next to a photographer with a GFX S and it looked good in his hand, more eccentric then a DSLR. But solid, the S in Made in Japan, I believe the R is not. When spending a lot of money I’d want it to be Made in Japan, Germany, Switzerland or it’s not special /unique enough compared to say the Hoover or other white goods, (though my Hoover is Made in Germany so not the best example!). When the next generation comes out, there be 100 smaller MP. This old 50 large MP camera looks like the sweet spot. I’d lean towards the S myself, when you’re probably leaning towards the R, but the removable top and Odd looks add to it’s charm. Why oh why they didn’t make a XPro style OVF,EVF I don’t know.
Sean, I REALLY appreciate you taking the time to write such a thoughtful post.
Speaking of thinking, as you know I’ve been doing a lot of that over the last few weeks, and I’ve concluded that the M is still the best camera for me. I like to be fluid, I like to have an OVF, and I like to have something portable. If you process through that equation, on the other side of the equal sign is not a GFX. But, ohhh… my-oh-my I’ve been seduced by its image quality. It’s that alone that has created my false dilemma.
Anyway, back to our regularly scheduled programming…
Have you tried a Rollieflex TLR? Amazing amazing..and the Rolleinars make for beautiful close up portraits.
Hi Lucy, the closest I got to a Rolleiflex was a Minolta Autocord. I loved the output:
However, it’s not really a camera for spontaneous photography.
Resist!
At least wait for the X1D M2

Hello Peter,
I had the GFX 50S for about 6 months. Files are incredible, really. But even if it’s a small Medium Format camera, the lenses are still big. I had the 23mm, 63mm and 120mm and ended up selling the whole kit, to get an M10 instead. One thing I really liked was fitting Leica R lens, most of them cover the whole sensor. Your Summilux 50mm will also cover the MF sensor. It really gives a special look and keep the size of the camera kind of not too big… then it’s all about the EVF vs RF manual focusing experience.
But honestly, you have the “M” disease so it will always come back… Fell free to contact me if you want some more details.
Thanks for your very generous offer Olivier, but you’re right: I have the “M disease”. I have chosen to stay with my M10.
