Technical note: Mixed lighting (natural and incandescent) was wreaking havoc on the colours here, but I managed to get acceptable skin tones via post-processing.

I think it works very well. Because your kids were brought up with a camera pointed at them at all times (heh heh) they are always natural.
You’re right. All I have to do is point the camera at them and the magic happens. I just set it on a tripod with the timer on and go have a sandwich.
