Love the low-ish perspective and the blown-out light from the window. Modern coatings are very effective – I wonder if a vintage lens would have given a slightly more romantic rendering, if you know what I mean.
Interesting point.
I’m thinking you may have wondered about that because there is a subtle amount of veiling flare (haze) in this image. You see, even the mighty FLE is prone to flare, especially when confronted with this sort of torture test (shot at f/1.4, against sunlight, etc.).
The net effect is a little bit of the “romantic rendering” to which you refer. I like it here.
I’ve used some older lenses that would have completely blown this image, but would nonetheless nicely confer “romantic rendering” in less extreme situations.
