It’s the eve before Leica releases the M10 and I find myself contemplating film again.
Wait, what?!!!
Oh yes.
One of the things I did over the holidays was try to catch up a little on my family photo book projects.
Yesterday I received the completed “2014” book from the publisher. As it turns out, in 2014 I shot quite a lot of film with a Leica M3, Mamiya 7II, and Mamiya RZ67 (I also shot quite a lot of digital with a Leica M9, Leica M240, and Nikon D800).
Guess what? The film images look better in print. Especially the medium format (Mamiya) ones.

Peter – I had a chance to take a look at your film work from that period – and they are very special.
I was wondering what scanner do you use and is it DIY or sent out?
Dimitry
Oh, yes. Here we go again… 🙂 But why do you fight and feel drama about change to film and back again? Or it seems to me that you do. I think its normal to be tired of film, then use digital for some time, then get back. The process of shifting itself should give a bit possitive hump in creativity and inspiration. Just be calm and shoot film. 🙂
Yes, very good..this what I think, please Peter do both and do stay happy..I like beach and mountains! For us it is always good to see Mamiya 7 II images ….
😀👍! No need to say anything in this corner.
Pretty True. But still, I surrendered to Leica simply because “you can’t always get what you want”.
So, be honest, my take on Leica digital M is: “Buy the new model at it’s announcement and don’t trade”
It helps to save the frictional cost due to trading and I still got both M9 and M240 on hand.
It save many hassle due to gear head problem and save my time for my photography project and jobs.
Paolo Roversi has to live without 8×10 polaroid and Dan Winters is using Canon 5D3 now.
When facts changes, I change my mind.
As long as any gear works, even an iPhone, take the passion to create more photos.
May be I am just being too realistic….
Anyway, wish you happy shooting to you all.
P.s. Peter, love your works. In the end, it is the photos of your loved one really counts or matters.
Can’t disagree with you Sam ( https://prosophos.com/2013/03/08/the-picture-youll-never-see/ )
Thank you for the kind words, and the reminder.
Only a handful of mankind knows what a simple photo of your loved one truly means.
BTW, I ordered.
