500…it was only 400 a couple of weeks ago!

I did have a read of your “thread” the other day and after 10 minutes left it with confirmation I’ve done the right thing and cut myself loose from that type of discussion.

Well done Peter by following your beliefs and “asking the question” … who is interested in CCD!

    I do miss my MM!

Steve Huff put a pretty good argument in the other direction, anyway I think I will buy a 2nd body M8 or M9 to add to my M240 and do a Andy and cut loose from the discussion.

There are so many variables that make up a photograph, but I do often see images from the M240 that are ‘thin’, if you catch my drift. Same problem with the Fujis. It’s not always like that but that’s my take.

Back in the day, I was told by one photographer that some wedding photographers he knew preferred the Nikon D1 than the high-end Canon, even though the latter had more pixels. The D1 had more of a film-like quality. Another wedding photographer, years later, said that he noticed something quite special about the D200’s files compared to the D300’s. I think I agree with all that, but those cameras are completely useless now, either way.

When people talk about the differences between sensors, they aren’t making it up. That much I am convinced of.

In any case, Leica can’t lose by having both a CCD M and a CMOS M. They already do have such a line-up, after all.
