I’m curious – did you specially light the flowers, or is the darkening of the background achieved in PP?
Evocative image.
The flowers were “lit” by the setting sun, and I exposed for them. The rest was achieved by enhancing the already dark surrounding areas.
Peter, sorry to disturb you on a pure technical matter. I am really curious how you experience the manual focus precision and accuracy of this Nikon Df with a manual focus lens. Do you get the focus where you want it in general?
Herb
Herb, no need to apologize. The focus is not as precise as a (correctly adjusted) rangefinder, but with a 40mm f/2 lens it’s pretty reliable.
Really spectacular!!
Bo
Thank you Bo!
Nice playful image Peter, well seen! The bud on the right looks almost shy / bashful too!
Ahhh, James, you softie… 🙂
Peter,
So far so good! I really like what your doing with the Df. I own the Df and really like everything about it except the manual focus. Over time, I would like your thoughts. I’m just wondering if someone could learn to be as quick or at least close to as quick as using a rangefinder. Personally, I think it is somewhat difficult for moving subjects.

very nice capture Peter. i also thought about getting the DF as a replacement for my D700, but so far i could not make my mind up
Reminds me of childhood Xmas tree decorations.
