ahh Peter you making me regret my recent decisions! Such a wonderful image and love the contrasts and movement in this.
I was very close to buying this lens, though instead, whilst I own the MM, bought my first classic lens instead. The 8.5cm Nikkor f2. Maybe when I sell the MM for an M9 one day I’ll change over!
Congratulations on the 8.5 Andrew!
I really do think the 8.5 will serve you better on the Monochrom, so don’t fret my friend.
Peter.
Hello Peter: When I was ready to buy my first M, my dealer happened to have an M9 in-stock back when they were somewhat hard to come by. The only lens he had in stock was the 75 2.5, so by accident this was my first Leica lens. I agree it”s a great optic and even when purchased new, a relative bargain by Leica standards!
Hi Chris.
Great choice for a first lens, even if it was by default.
Yes, the 75/2.5 is certainly a bargain new, and you can find used ones as well for *significant* discounts relative to other Leica lenses, because the word “Summilux” or “Summicron” doesn’t appear in the name.
This is a really nice moment, perfect combination of colors and shapes — and very hard to capture. May I say you’re a truly rangefinder master, Peter.
Thank you Luiz.
