Well – I think its appropriate to say great minds think alike! 🙂 Picking up a black (not so cool) Zf in 10 days! After all the considerations (medium format, lenses, IBIS, etc etc and of course, cost!) it has led me here. Lol I have considered just about all the options from Sony A7CR, to Fuji XT5, Fuji GFX (still on my medium term radar), Hasselblad X2Dii and even the Ricoh GR.

Nikon just have something special in their sensor for me. Not sure what it is, and the Expeed 7 processor is a jump up from my earlier days with Nikon. Of the haptics on this, two things caught my attention – the B&W switch (as you know I love this medium) and the back screen being able to flip over to no screen. Then of course there is the 3rd party lens market, which was a new discovery as to what has happened in this space.

Looking forward to getting back out there after 7-8 years of not making images.

    Enjoy Peter.

First of all Andy, congratulations! I really look forward to seeing you photograph again, as I remember you certainly had an eye for image creation. You have been away from it far too long.

As for the Zf — listen, the black Zf is as cool as it gets. I had one, but foolishly sold it and missed it immediately. I held off buying another, mostly because my other cameras have higher MPs but I realized that the look coming out of the Zf (Z6) sensor was special and 24MP was more than enough. So, when I jumped back in, a silver Zf presented itself and I thought I’d get it as a “change” to justify my earlier foolishness, lol.

The Zf has to be the most balanced camera out there. The right size, the right look, the right technology, and the right haptics. It’s interesting, too, that you mention the back screen being able to flip over and hide away, because that’s exactly how I shoot with mine.

      Anyway, congratulations again.

      —Peter.

I’m even more excited now! Thanks Peter.

When i started looking, I just presumed the Zf was the same as the original Df! So it didn’t peak my interest. Then i noticed it looked more like the old F model bodies (the Df wasn’t the greatest looking brick) and I started “looking under the bonnet”, and discovered it was a whole new beast vs the Df.
