Honey, our beloved family dog, was diagnosed with congestive heart failure this week, following an acute onset of respiratory distress.

She’s on medication now and doing better. Spent yesterday sleeping most of the day.  Today she perked up. Wanted to be walked (twice!) for short periods. Even barked at another dog across the street.

Those of you who have followed this blog know she was here from the beginning.  We are told her remaining time with us will be measured in months, so we’re giving her extra hugs.

Hard – so hard. I have watched Honey over the years and my own girls are about the same age, and there is so much love … take care, and please give her a few pets from me. She’s a lovely girl.

I’ve been reading your blog for years and always enjoyed watching your family grow up always alongside your ever loyal Honey. I had a Honey too. They are such wonderful companions. Enjoy every moment of her. Thanks for sharing her with us even from a distance.

Thank you kindly for your supportive comments. Life has changed quite a bit since I first began this blog, but there are some really nice people out there who have always kept me going. People like you.

    Thank you again.

Hi Peter. It has taken awhile, but I have kept this post on my home page so that I could comment. My prayers are with Honey who has been such an integral part, like your family, of your blog. And the love you all have shared has been special. Over the years, my family has been fortunate to have had had a number of very special dogs, liker Honey, in our lives. And it is so difficult when the time comes to let them go. Two years ago, we had a Scottie, Seamus, pass and thought that he would be our last dog. However, we couldn’t resist the joy of having again a dog in our lives; and a little less than a year ago, we adopted a three year old Skye Terrier, Archie, who was rescued from a puppy mill. Archie had a difficult life at the puppy mill. So, it has been wonderful seeing him blossom with the love we are giving him. I will send you a photo.

Awwwww… Archie got saved! That little puppy — having had such an unlucky start — was lucky to have you and your family enter his life. And Seamus by his name alone sounds like he must have been special.

We have been spoiling Honey the last little while because, well.. why not! She is our sweet girl.

Thank you for your kind comments George, and your kindness in general.

      Peter.
