    Marvelously kiderific exuberance.

I’d forgotten about this lens. I never had a D70. My first AF Nikon was a film camera and then I had a D80, but since I already had some Nikon glass, I never acquired this zoom. Did you find it used or keep it from an earlier day?

It’d be interesting to test, but reviews still available suggest it’s likely as good a performer as the current 16-85 f/2.8-4 VR and surely WAY more reasonably priced. I understand it added $300 US to the original price of a D70, so today… quite a bargain I imagine. I love the combo of that ne plus ultra 70-200 and a discontinued “kit” lens. A Doberman and a Dachshund: both tenacious German dogs, but a unique pairing. 🙂

More to the point, however, I love the image you produced with it.

      Thanks Greg.

In truth, I can’t stand the rendering of the Nikon gear, but it allows me to capture certain things (telephoto) that I just can’t get with my other cameras.

This 18-70mm is from 2004, and it was purchased along with my D70 (which I still have). I realized the other day that I have another DX camera again (the D500), so why not try out the old trusty zoom?

Incidentally, the D70 and 18-70mm are the only pieces of gear I’ve never sold.
