This was a test shot of sorts, done at the usual spot, less than 200 feet from my home 😉
The reason I’m still testing this lens is that it doesn’t seem to be giving me consistent results, like my Sigma 35/1.4 Art. I’m not sure if it’s a function of the focal length, the lens itself, or a combination of the two.

In my experience, the hit rate was not 100% at f/1.4 (I don’t think it’s your particular copy…) so it was often better to fire a burst of 2 or three shots at once.
…But when this lens is on, then it is ON!!
It’s gone.
The hit rate was more like 1 in 11… not acceptable.

Whatever you decide, I can comment on the image itself. It is a lovely portrait of your wife and, more trivially, a lovely portrait of the winter coat.
In the spirit of “leave the gun, take the cannoli”…..”do what you please with the lens/camera combo but keep the wife”. And she should definitely keep the coat. They look beautiful together. 🙂

I used own the Canon 135mm 2L and such an awesome lens. My experience with this focal length wide open was similar (though on much older 20D body). It doesn’t take much to miss with these lenses. Does the D810 have live view peaking or assist function? Might be doing some tests with this!
