Love the rendering of the background here Peter–has an almost mysterious “Harry-Potteresque Magical Forest” look about it.

…And a lovely portrait at that.

That lens sure is a real cracker!

Perhaps I’m being overly appreciative of fine details, but I am amazed at the skin tones here. Just beautiful, rich skin tones. If the CCD is substantially responsible for this richness, then I think I want one.

Oh, and the photo is very nice indeed.

It’s a shame that you never had both the M9 and the 240 together at the same time. To compare their exposures at the same moment would help me understand my preferences better. Sometimes the light overpowers the delicacy of the sensor, but in some cases, I do believe you that the CCD has, perhaps along with some CMOSes, a film-like quality. After all, I’m looking at it right now.

Of course the CCD sensor is responsible for the beautiful skin tones.

With regards to having the two cameras side by side at the time of exposure, the better comparison would involve how the files would behave with subsequent processing. I can assure you the M240 would never be able to achieve those skin tones. I would know, I’ve extensively used three M240 bodies.

Most people however, aren’t able to see what you see, so it becomes a moot point. That is why CCD is unceremoniously being dumped, and why the industry is moving towards the bells and whistles of CMOS.
