Thank you Peter for your thoughtful review of the Summarit as a serious photographer. I bought the Voigtlander 75mm f/1.8 as a less costly yet reasonable quality lens primarily for portraiture. I must admit that I was somewhat influenced by Sean Reid’s discussion of it, particularly in terms of its slight softening of facial details in portraits. I like the lens a lot but find it rather more soft at wide apertures than I’d prefer ( I so wish an M-lens were made like the Zeiss 85mm 1.4 for Nikons — gorgeous wide open in its “drawing”.). The upshot of my remarks is that I’ve ordered a Summarit 75 like yours because it seems to draw cleanly yet not harshly. I’ll compare them for portraits and see….

Thanks again for your site and your love of photography.

    Henry
