There is no good time, but right at the holidays is particularly bad. Hopefully the power will be back in service soon, you and the family are well, and that the cost in human terms to the city will not be too great. All my best.

Sending WARM thoughts your way, Peter. Sorry this has happened to you (and Toronto), especially during the holidays, but we will be thinking good thoughts, and praying the power is back on soon. Merry Christmas to you and yours, and thank you for all you mean to all of us!
Dear Peter,
I’m really sorry to hear that. Looking at the news from Europe it looks something pretty scary. I really hope that power will be restored asap for you and all the families in the same situation. And that kids are still in high spirits…

Ice storm? Hopefully it’s back up soon, take care!
eek! I am about to put some sun cream on and head down to the beach.
Hang in there! Hope all is well before xmas.
May be time to take the Leica M film camera for spin.
Thank you everyone for your wonderful words of encouragement, both here and also via email/text messages! Things were looking very scary for a while, and I am very grateful to the Hydro workers that worked night and day to restore power — many of them having cancelled their vacation plans to help with the efforts.
Unfortunately, many families here are still without power, and the temperatures have plummeted over the past 24 hours.

Hi Peter, we travelled from NB to Ottawa on Friday, and the journey was not without many hitches, but fortunately nothing to compare with the problems in Hogtown. It seems that you may have power again, but, as you know, many thousands still do not. I’ve always found the Hydro workers to be first class people.
Take care.
All best wishes to you and your family.

The Hydro workers really are first class people. On Christmas Day there were several of them working along the highway, trying to repair more lines under very treacherous conditions.
My best to you and your family for 2014.
