    Peter,

I was away for the last couple of weeks but it’s a delight to come back and see your recent images.

This is my favorite of your “men in uniform” images.

    Regards
    Guy

Welcome “back” Guy! And thank you. I’m too close to this image (temporally speaking) to draw any conclusions, but I must say I am pleasantly surprised by your assessment.

The 24/1.4 is quite nice…sharp enough, with very lovely bokeh. It’s FOV is a little difficult to work with for “people photography”, but I like the cinematic vibe it gives to images.

      Thanks Luiz.

Good composition, Peter! And I like the sharp focus vs the out of focus contrast for this aspect. Oh, BTW, would you use an external VF to frame when shooting this 24mm Summilux?

Yes, it’s images like this that I’d love to have that 1.4 on the 24!

Peter is that because over time you’ve grown familiar with the framing enough not to need it or is it more to do with not wanting to interrupt the image making process of frame, focus, compose? I use one when using my Elmar though the more I shot with it, the less I started to use it (though have generally always kept it on the camera in case!).

Both. But even when I’m just starting out with a (new) wide lens, I don’t bother with an external VF, so I guess reason #2 (not wanting to interrupt the process) is the dominant one.
