This is very beautiful. It has a sort of “Renaissance portrait with halo” look about it…

(I’m sure in your eyes she has one anyway!)

Interesting. It does have a Noct fall off to it!

Really like this. We often photograph children at play, laughing or smiling. Nice to see them when pondering or in a different frame of mind. Just not to often though…smiling and laughing is always better :-).

        …Alright, I’ll bite:

Sure, the ‘Lux is smaller, lighter, less expensive, and focuses closer than the Noct; But can you count on it to produce -exactly- the look you are after every time you pick it up? While I realize the Noct is a little more finicky…if it is “Noct fall off” you are -consistently- after, then it is the Noct that you actually require. And to find a Noct that is spot-on, wide open, with your own gear…swoon!

If not…sure…go with the Lux; you really can’t go wrong. (But will you just end up selling [and rebuying] for the nth time?)

        🙂

(Agh, you’ve been through this before…nothing I say will make any difference anyway!)

The Noct is superb in the right hands. However my point is that regardless of fall off, there are times, more often than the Lux, where the bokeh rendering is not to my liking.

The above is NOT a good example. I could see the Noct in this image, fall off, bokeh and everything else.

However whats the point of shooting wide open if the bokeh has inconsistencies (at least to ME it does. Can’t stress that enough..ME being personal opinion).

Well the answer to that (if I owned it) is use it in the right circumstances (aka know your gear). And that is why I think the Lux is a better lens. You don’t even need to think about what might be the result.

Disclaimer: this is coming from someone who has never used the Noct by the way…..just observation vs. being a Lux owner.
