What is stunning to me is not the crazy leica glass which of course is stunning. I have been only reading your blog for a very few days and it almost physically hurts to see another hominidae member who can frame every day life so effortlessly and make it seem like the most important thing in the world.

I am sure dozens of folks were trying to capture THIS image who were with you having fun. The great thing about life in this moment is that people are taking photographs like no other.

But I am virtually certain if I looked at all of the painters from this window that the math says none are going to make me stop and marvel.

We may focus on tools and rules and pray that we can use them like an alchemist to make something more than even gold, even Newton failed. But I was clicking some of the links after finding this shot sucking me in and I had to put it down so that I could just breathe.

It is not the glass. You said your goal is to convey emotion, and whether it is your effort or others, when I visit here it is like quick sand.

I read your incantation to avoid the bad and I hope that I can use that as a core maybe to make even one image that make somebody have to remember to breathe.

    Thank you for this blog.

Hey AB, I really appreciate the time you took to express this, and of course I’m extremely flattered. I hope I will continue to create images with emotion.

Peter, another signature capture by you. There are so many things that I like about your images, partticularly, like said above, making the ordinary interesting; but I also have been intrigued by the very natural facial tones that you are able to process. Any suggestions on processing facial tones and not having lips too red? Thanks.

The processing has been at least 5 yrs in the making. When I was conducting 1-on-1 teaching sessions, some of the students opted to learn about this instead of going on a photographic walk-about. Alas, the sort of instruction required to convey my approach to post-processing do does not lend itself to a blog instruction format, but I suppose I could write a series of lengthy articles. The truth is, that would be very time consuming.

    HI Peter,

At the aperture you indicate I was expecting less depth of field. Can you comment on that?

    Thanks,

    Matt
