I am always reluctant to comment about equipment being a) a non Leica user and b) of the opinion that the photographer makes the photograph, but here, I think perhaps that Noctilux earned its keep. I love the subtle gradations and subdued highlights that separate her dark hair from the dark background and maybe that’s got something to do here with superior light gathering ability. That, plus C’s joyfully direct engagement, make this one of my favorite Noctilux portraits (so far).
