I mentioned in an offhanded manner your use of the 75mm in your recap of the shoot. However, this is the type of image that really shines through with the 75mm. I can’t put my finger on it but I just like the manner in which this focal length draws you in and if used correctly the personality of the person really comes through for me. At least this is what I see here and in a few of your worker images that are shot in the same focal length.

I think you’ve hit the nail on the head with the description “draws you in”…

On a strictly technical basis, the 90mm focal would probably be ideal for a head-and-shoulders images, but is less versatile than 75mm. Moreover, the 75/1.4 is such a special lens that it would be a shame not to harness it for portraiture… then again, the 75/2.5 is incredible too, but it’s more “brutal” with the details ;)…

The truth is, as photographers, we are spoiled with our many choices.
