I have a 50 mm Summarit and shoot frequently in very low-light situations.
I took the 50 mm to a theater performance the other day and was NOT disappointed. After all the blabber about noise on the M9 over ISO 1000 i was amazed as i could hardly see any.
You go on and use that baby in low-light, let them saw what they want…

See my theater shot here if you want,

Wonderful shot Dan, and “you go on and use that baby in low-light” too! Obviously it’s working for you. Thanks for the link – I checked out the rest of your blog too and love your photos… the stitched panoramic shots are very striking.

Very lovely tones! And it was nice to see the sweet boken after hearing so much about it but never actually getting a good example.

For me and my shaky hand, though, I think I’ll stay with f/1.4 lenses and faster — which, I’m afraid, I often shoot at 2500 anyways. I like to shoot in the dark 😉
