Walked by him today, turned around and asked if he wanted his portrait taken. He appropriately said “no”, lol, but I convinced him.

“A colossal block of ice hangs suspended above Sankofa Square. On it, a solitary figure fights against time and heat, scrambling to protect what’s already melting away. As sunset approaches, what will be left?
There’s no time to waste.
Created by Joshua Thomson with an original score by Alaskan composer Matthew Burtner, this epic eight-hour performance makes climate change impossible to ignore. Three times throughout the day, performers take their position on the ice, each bringing their own interpretation to this battle for our future.”
These were taken today.

I met Marwaan while I was photographing this corner of the street, which was lit up by some lovely late afternoon sunlight. He asked me if he ruined the shot when he entered the scene and I told him no, but then quickly asked him if he wanted his portrait done. Marwaan graciously said yes and the result is what you see here.
While chatting, I learned Marwaan had had a great day at work and was on his way home when our paths collided. Thanks Marwaan, for making my day a little brighter too, by agreeing to have your photo taken.

I was never entirely happy with the processing of this image.
This is the re-worked version (just in time, before 2024 fades away as fast as the summer did):
