I like the image and the square format. By the way, what ever happened to the Autocord?
Thanks! The Autocord? It died a third time and went to Japan… permanently.
That’s too bad. It was such a beautiful camera. I have been considering the Autocord, or some other TLR. Given your experience, would you do it again (hoping for a reliable one), or go a different route for a lighter medium format camera than the RZ? Did you ever find the 3.5 maximum aperture too limiting, or dim for focusing?
I sometimes find f/1.4 too limiting indoors here in the winter! So, f/3.5 wasn’t ideal, at least for moving subjects.
My Autocord was seemingly cursed… it kind of soured me on this line of cameras. However, I must confess that the lens was fantastic and when the the camera was working the output was beautiful.
This was my first TLR and I realized how using a TLR dramatically improved my composition. But I also realized that this was only possible with static/posed subjects, as my hit rate fell by equally dramatic proportions when I was photographing anything in motion.
The RZ67 in comparison is large and heavy, but I find it more quick and agile in actual use vs. a TLR-style camera like the Autocord.
Great look(s),
Thank you for the feedback. I’ve been really interested in shooting with a waist level finder, but perhaps an RZ or Hasselblad SLR would be a better choice for my purposes.
