    Amazing! Incredible!

    Absolutely alive and three-dimensional “coming-out -of the-frame-image”…wonderful colours….

      Hi Andreas,

I’ve often been asked about my processing, and it’s always a difficult question to answer. Partly because I process each photo individually, depending on the subject matter, lighting, and mood. Partly because I keep evolving it, every day.

I can spend hours on a photo, and go through a dozen revisions before I’m happy with it. I’m obsessive about it.

It’s not that I make great changes to the original files — not at all. But do I make many subtle changes that all add up.

I try to be careful not to overdue it though, because one of the things I see a lot of on the web is over-processing: http://photographsbypeter.com/2011/10/07/over-processed-not/

I used to provide one-on-one teaching sessions, but most of the students wanted to discuss camera gear and shooting techniques.

I no longer have the time to teach, other than through this website, but I keep my teaching points brief here.

Still, it is time consuming. It’s curious though, how may people will write and ask detailed questions that I couldn’t possibly answer in a single message. For a period of time, I tried, but after a while I felt as if I was being taken advantage of, so now my discussion is mostly limited to these pages.

Thank you Peter, for your fast and honest reply!

I think with processing it is like learning to play an instrument! It takes time and if you want to be extraordinaire it needs more time and obsession, as you mentioned. Peter, it is like a puzzle-thank you for this important piece! 🙂

Happy, dear, sparkling, summery. A very inviting perspective of another of your well-seen precious moments. The image brought an immediate smile to my face.
