Here I am deciding on how many K to spend on which digi cam while all the happiness can be bought with a roll of Portra and my old trusted M6. Puts a lot of the tech talk in perspective.
You captured another beautiful moment and the ‘rich’ feel of this image is very special. Should be a favorite.
Dear Roel, I thought you made your big decision already!
Anyway, can’t disagree with your comment about the “happiness” in a roll of Portra.
Now…we are cookin with gas! 🙂
Thanks Andrew.
Fabulous!!!!
Bo
Thanks Bo.
See? That’s what I’m talking about! 😉
Thanks Kevin.
So, if this is evidence, I guess the lab thing worked out OK? or are you following in Mark’s illustrious developing footsteps?
This was from the first and only “test” role I left with the lab earlier this week. I am satisfied, but will try them a few more times before making a recommendation. It was super convenient though.
Lovely photo Peter, on one of my favourite films! Portra 400 has a crazy exposure latitude (I’ve seen it successfully used at 1600 with no push, 3200 1 stop and 6400 2 stop push), and scans extremely well. If I were forced to shoot one film forever… it might just be this! Great to see your results on colour film, I’ve been following the recent gear posts too with some interest! It’s always the images first though, looking forward to seeing more.
Thank you James. Portra is my favourite colour film too. I’ve been using it since there were two versions, though now of course they’ve been combined into one.
This is so funny. The title is nice as the picture. Liked all. So the question is did he eat all his meal? 🙂
Thanks for your appreciation of the title as well as the image! I honestly don’t know how much he ate, though I doubt he ate much at all.
It’s photographs like these that make me miss film so much! It’s actually because of your blog that i’m giving digital a rest for now – I’ve taken out my FM3A and have gone back to shooting and developing B&W film the past couple of months. As a fellow Toronto resident, I’m curious as to where you developed your colour roll. The labs i’m familiar with are Downtown Camera and TIW (and Toronto Black and White). Keep the film shots coming!
Timeless.
Thanks Antonio.
Wow Peter. This photograph is just breathtaking.
