You’re definitely mastering the M240 files now Peter.
Thank you Gavin.
I don’t know about “mastering the M240 files”, as I’ve only had the camera a few weeks. However, if I’m starting to have some success, it’s because I decided to do one thing: to stop making the M240 files look like M9 files (it can’t be done). This, more than anything, has given me the freedom to move forward with the M240…
Very sweet capture! Happy Easter Peter!
Thank you Alex!
This one looks very “filmic”.
I’ll take that as a compliment – thank you Aivaras.
Yes, that was compliment. 🙂
peter, i know ur having fun with ur leica . But here is something to consider, given the style u shoot, have u considered the pentax 645d/z, its CCD in all its glory multiply by MF. Its gonna be the D800E + M9, minus all the disadvantages of both in IQ wise.
Thanks Marcus, but I tried the Pentax 645D over a year ago:
You can’t blink here, or else you’ll miss something!

peter, ok seems like nothing evades you! but can i know why u gave up on it then? if IQ is the aim, surely it would have passed with flying colours.
The image quality was like the M9, only with a larger CCD sensor and more pixels, so it was phenomenal. Even my approach to processing the files was similar.
What made me ultimately pass on it was the slow writing speed of the camera, and the fact that it wasn’t really a medium format sensor (it’s cropped medium format), so the step up from the M9 — although noticeable — wasn’t enough to make me overlook the negatives (slow operation, large body, fastest lens only f/2.8, etc.). I figured that if I was gong to carry a heavy body, I might as well get a true MF camera — a film MF camera with a truly large “sensor” (and of course the unique look of film). Hence the Mamiya RZ67 I now have.
Still, I miss the Pentax. It really is a great camera and a bargain in the large digital sensor field. Of course, the CMOS (Sony) version is about to be released. The processing power of the new camera is superior, but I haven’t yet seen the actual files so I cannot comment on image quality.
Could a fast card help at all ? With the 645z in view I m thinking maybe bargain hunting for 645d would be a possibility . Isn’t the Pentax 2.8 = 1.4 . With such large resolution I was thinking the editing possibility must be huge
Happy Easter!
