Did Steve give you the Nikon V1 virus?
Nice shot! It misses the DOF of a FF, but color and sharpness are (very) good.
How do you like this little gem?
Regards, Jeffrey
Hi Jeffrey!
It’s a very fun camera to use! I’ve been tempted to try it since it was announced because the “look” it produces/renders — although decidedly poorer with respect to image quality vs. my M9, or many other cameras — appeals to me.
Indeed! It is a remarkable camera at its price point. Now you never go outside without one. Hopefully Nikon will keep the format due to its slow startup/ low sales. You and Steve serve as great ambassadors (although not paid unfortunately) to boost sales 😉
Do you use MF or AF?
Regards, Jeffrey
Definitely AF. That’s one of this camera’s greatest strengths.
Very very good camera for the price Peter. I’ll take a stab and in the dark and have a guess that this camera is as, if not more enjoyable to shoot with than the RX1!!?? In fact apart from an M9, this would be the camera I’d buy for value and size:performance ratio.
Love the photo by the way with grey skies above and the perspective….
…Infinitely more enjoyable to shoot with than the RX1/RX1R.
Excellent shot and pp!
Truth is, I didn’t even look at the camera used initially…then I noticed the increased DOF, and wondered what aperture you had shot at…
Then my jaw dropped, and I looked again!
🙂
Anyway, beautiful pic; congrats on the new tool!

“Truth is, I didn’t even look at the camera used initially…”
I think that’s true of most people – it’s just us photo geeks who concern ourselves with such silly things.
Thanks Mark.
I feel I just have to comment on this pic again:
It is EXCELLENT! (I know I said that already, but it really is…)
I love how R’s eyes are exactly the same color as the sky…it is almost as though SHE is brewing the storm. (Either that, or she is about to go all “Harry Potter” on you…)
And I love your choice to place her on the right side of the image, even though she is facing the right. (my initial reaction was to the contrary…)
A job well-done. Now don’t get too comfortable with the new toy!

Thanks Mark… and thanks for noticing the details :).

Steve’s enthusiasm for the camera’s ergonomics, and his numerous guest posts — including the recent one by Joe Marquez (http://www.stevehuffphoto.com/2013/08/27/the-nikon-v1-shoots-ballet-bravo-by-joe-marquez/) — finally put me over the edge.
