    Mon Ami Peter,

What a marvel! A symbolic image of many point … Firstly, the wonder of this child cope with this parade, this probably asking what this means …
This mother’s hand gently resting on the back of his son … For protection and encouragement (the paradox) … Peter and the magic that operates again ..
The beautiful book … With a Noctilux gives the best in your hands … Bravo.

    Respectfully.

    Hugues.

Peter you certainly have that Noctilux singing!! Apart the composition and message the thing which strikes me are the colours. Stunning and it adds the right type of emotion to the image. Especially the boys jacket. It sets him up even more so as the centre piece and fits nicely with blues, reds and the crowd/road.

    Great work.

Thank you Andrew. I haven’t quite mastered the Noctilux, but I was satisfied with this image.

Glad also that you like the colours – I worked on this shot for a while to coax the most out of it. My recent switch from Aperture to Lightroom has forced me to re-jig how I process my files… not quite there, but getting closer.

It’s true… f/0.95 is not as razor thin as one would imagine, especially at intermediate-to-far distances. At close proximity, however, the effect is more pronounced. Which is why it’s a shame that the near focus limit for the Noctilux is 1m (vs. 0.7 m for most modern 50mm M lenses).

Thanks! No extra blur was added – I prefer to let the lens render as it naturally does. It’s interesting, Derek — see his comment above — thought there wasn’t enough blur for f/0.95.

Thanks for the rapid response, the Leica M is on my wish list, just waiting to see if the CMOS sensor is as good or better than the M9’s CCD Sensor?

Great image:-)! The Noctilux shines in your hands and the PP is beautiful!

Did know you switches from Apeture to LR. Any special reason?
