I’m beginning to see some magic from this Voigtländer 75mm f/2.5 Color Heliar… I may have to revise my opinion that the Leica 75mm Summarit bests it.
If this lens is even close to its Leica equivalent, I would call it a remarkable achievement at 25% of the price.
It’s a shame it’s discontinued.

Why the change of heart Peter?

The images will follow in the next few days…
I’ve wanted this lens for a long time but couldn’t quite justify it as it is a focal length I don’t use frequently enough. I’m looking forward to seeing your photos with it.
Hi Godfrey. Seek and ye shall find 🙂 … I’ve only had it a short time, but I’ll be posting an image today.
Peter,
Do you think that:
a) a 75mm lens is easier to focus than a 90?
b) a 35/75 combo is as good as 35/90 travel combo?
Aging eyes.
Hi John,
In answer to your questions:
(a) a 75 is very slightly easier to focus than a 90, but it’s more difficult to frame (no dedicated frame lines — just the little corner “notches” to guide you).
(b) The lens split 35/75 vs. 35/90 is a personal preference thing. I do think the 75 is more versatile, being only slightly longer than a 50, but it really depends on your shooting needs (and habits). It would be equally correct to recommend just a 35 for travel as a single lens solution. Or just a 50. You get my point…

Hello Peter,
Nice pics, nice webpage! About the V 75/2.5: is my impression correct that this lens was never made with M mount? Does the L to M adapter work flawless on this lens, regarding rangefinfer coupling? Would it make a good combo with my M8? Thanks, Hein
